Although born in Florida, Mark lived most of his childhood on a rubber plantation in the Asia-Pacific region. At the age of 16, he returned to Florida where one thing led to another and at age 20 he found himself in jail awaiting sentencing for a drug charge. God used the Gideon Bible he found in his cell to lead him to trust Christ for salvation. Mark spent two years in prison where godly chaplains discipled him in God’s Word. Released from prison, he went to Florida Bible College to get grounded in his faith. There he met and fell in love with Terry, the daughter of NTM missionaries in Papua New Guinea. They married in 1975.

Mark and Terry felt the Lord leading them to teach the children of missionaries overseas. So in 1976, they moved to Chattanooga to attend Tennessee Temple University to study for their teaching degrees. Mark holds a bachelor degree in secondary education with a history proficiency. Terry has her elementary education degree from Florida Bible College.

In 1985 the couple flew with their two young sons to Papua New Guinea, to teach at New Tribes Mission’s school for missionary children. Mark and Terry ministered to the students there from 1985 to 2000. During this time, they had a vital ministry in the villages around their mission station. In 2000 they stepped out of teaching to work full-time in the community. This ministry involved public relations, community development and spiritual discipleship.

In 2006, Mark and Terry moved back to the USA and became NTM Representatives for West Florida. They have a passion to see the next generation of NTM missionaries raised up to carry on the work of reaching the nations for Christ through tribal evangelism. They love to share at local churches, Bible studies, Christian schools, jail ministries, Bible colleges, children’s church and with individuals. Mark does pulpit supply and speaks at missions conferences as needed.

Mark enjoys hunting and fishing. He has had opportunity to use his skills in the outdoors to mentor several young men since he has been back in the USA. He also plays the guitar.
