When Darryl and Kyla Palmer describe the challenges and blessings of pioneer evangelism and church planting, they speak from experience. The Palmers spent 29 years evangelizing, discipling new believers and establishing churches among the Taliabo people of the Asia-Pacific Region. (The award-winning NTM video The Taliabo Story documents what God did among this group. )
Now in the US, the Palmers serve as NTM representatives, seeking to increase awareness of the plight of people without Christ and challenge fellow believers to find their niche in missions.
Darryl continues to work on the Taliabo translation of the New Testament as well as write Bible lesson curriculum for Taliabo leaders and teachers. Kyla, having developed and implemented a successful Taliabo literacy program, now serves as a literacy consultant for NTM. They make annual trips back to the field to further train Taliabo church leaders and help missionary teams create literacy programs.
Between trips to the field, the Palmers welcome opportunities to speak about missions in churches, private homes, and universities. Darryl’s life, sports, and ministry experiences help him connect well with young men and women in high school and college, as well as to larger church groups. Kyla uses tribal artifacts to capture childrens attention and weave together a memorable mission message. She also speaks frequently to womens Bible study groups.
